SDMC TAKES ACTION FOR POLLUTION-RELATED VIOLATIONS, ISSUING A RS 50 LAKH CHALLAN
Pollution-related violations, according to civic officials, total fines of Rs 50 lakh have been levied.
INTRODUCTION – POLLUTION-RELATED VIOLATIONS
These fines were collected from a number of bodies, including the CPWD, for allegedly breaching Pollution control norms. To curb air and dust pollution, authorities in the South Zone and Najafagarh Zone of the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) have introduced stringent pollution control measures, such as banning the burning of solid waste, garbage, dry leaves, plastic, rubber, and construction activities.
According to the SDMC, the Building Department has received 110 challans totaling Rs 50 lakh for violating the National Green Tribunal’s orders (NGT).
The department has levied a fine of Rs 5 lakh on the Central Public Works Department (CPWD). The department has given ten challans totaling Rs 3 lakh to violators of NGT norms in the Najafagarh District.
According to the statement, the special drive reduces emissions caused by building and demolition waste. the hotspot areas are under continuous surveillance and control by officials from the South Zone’s Building Department.
GRAP – POLLUTION-RELATED VIOLATIONS
The officials also declared the steps outlined in the Environment Pollution (Prevention & Control) Authority’s Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) are being implemented.
